The Merlion looks gay

I'm typing this at 1pm on a Monday morning. I'm not at school cos I came back from Singapore with a sore throat, running nose and itchy ear. And...it's probly been 48 hours since my last good sleep.

We left for Malacca at 2.30AM on Saturday morning, cos my sister's bus from Kedah was the late one. We reached Malacca at about 4am, and only slept for 1 hour before we had to wake up and get ready cos the bus left at 6am. You can imagine how it felt.

This post is gonna have a whole load of pics, so I suggest if you don't want your modem to lag, dont read it. For those that WANT to see almost all the pics tho, you can watch it on my Flickr.

The sky was still so dark...

Instead of SingTel, Maxis decided to hand me over to StarHub-SGP. Probably cause they broke up.

I slept all the way till 9am, when the sun had finally shone. We were already in Johor by then, and nearing the imigration border.

I won't bore you with pics of the border and how we reached Sentosa Island(Singapore), so here's a fast forward to the first attraction we went to.

The Carlsberg Tower

It was basically a lookout tower to give you an awed feeling of how large the island was. The best part was probly before they rose up, the radio would blare out: Welcome to the Carlsberg Tower. Sit back and relax, for we ensure you will be high soon. ;)

The view:

And moving on:

The Merlion

This is a statue of the Merlion, a combination of a Fish's body and a Lion's head. The Lion's head was a symbol of strength, while the fish's tail represented their commerce in docks and the sea(being an island and all). I just thought it looked kinda gay. Like some offspring of an unholy metrimony...

The dolphin show was the next attraction. I was expecting some sort of 18sx content since my ticket read ADULT, but I later figured it was for price differences.

One of the parts I hated about this show was that the beach was SO annoying. I hate sand, and I especially hate the sun. Why can't they have concrete and UV shades?

And believe me when I say it was BLAZING hot. It didn't help either that fucking 2 annoying Pakistani boys abour the age of 7-10 kept PUSHING against me and one even sat on my lap. I tried glaring at their parents(who were idiots that never took notice.), but you just cant keep a straight face when the sun is soooo hot.

I couldn't take any pictures of the Pink Dolphin's performing, since most of them came out very blur, far and all. The show was pretty dissapointing too. Just a few jumps through the hoop and waving to the crowd.

Manged to get a picture of the Dolphin up close AFTER the show though.

We visited the Ocean-Arium next. There wasn't anything really special about it, since all Aquariums are the same, wherever you go. What caught my eye were the Japanese 1.8m wide crabs and this:

Sea Angels. They're tiny little SNAIL/JELLYFISH like creatures that are no bigger than the rubber at the back of your mechanical pencil. Transparent, and looking like a Gummi Candy, they're adorable =)

We had dinner that night at a Steamboat buffet(which is all the rage now). The place was built on a platform above the beach, and I was sorta expecting the place to stink, but forgot that this was Singapore. Not a drop of litter in sight.

We went for some Musical Fountain show after that, but it was lame because they had a mascot called KiKi the Monkey. I still can't get the song it sang out of my head... "Hello hello hello~"

Wasn't exactly looking forward to our lodging that night, Hotel 81. Because it was a company trip, a budget hotel was booked to cut expenses. Derek and I have a fondness for squealing over beautiful Hotel bathrooms whenever we come to Singapore, but this time it was a letdown...

He kept saying "Why can't we be at Sheraton's..."

And we had to share a single bed. Quoting him, "Gay".

Found the next morning my phone had went back to SingTel.

The next day started off with a visit to the NEWater factory, which recycles shit-water into new drinkable water. It's supposedly cleaner than normal water, this...uh...recycled shit-water.

 Clean clear shit-water.

It was interesting to know that Singapore consumed 300 mliion gallons of water a day. And that to create clean water, it required 4 powerful filterations and even a UV light that was 10 times brighter than the sun to kill germs. Scary.

The second final stop was the Botanical Gardens. There wasn't really anything interesting here, but I sorta enjoyed the walk among so much flora.

Inside the mist house

The last place we visited was a 'cruise'.

The bus dropped us off at some sorta Pier, and here're some pics of the scenery.

The cruise ship. Lol.

On the boat...

The only pic of me throughout the trip

We left Singapore for Malaysia at about 6pm, the sky was pouring, and I was relieved that we'd be home soon.

Dark Sky.

Back in Malaysia, we passed by a truck that was ablaze in flames. I hope the driver wasn't in it when the flames blew.

The long, long, long drive back on the highway.

Reaching back was bliss, especially since I hadn't used the toilet even ONCE in Singapore.(cept for air kecil)

Phew.

OMG! It brought stupid deng memories of me and my cousins to Sentosa. There were lots we DIDN'T! get to do. =.=

And yes, I do agree that the merlion is a weird creature. Wouldn't say gay though.. Just weird. *prepares self from angry Singaporeans*
